My last visit in june gave me a full house I have caught a double a twenty a thirty a fourty and to top it all a fifty. I have visited the lake probably 6 or 7 times and have never failed to catch a thirty pounder. My first two trips to the lake one for 3 nights and one for 4 nights culminated in me catching 56 fish including 16 thirties to 38lb, 36 twenties and 4 doubles in fact on the 4 night trip i had to pull my rods in so i could get some sleep before driving home.
Obviously as the fishing pressure has increased the fishing has become a little harder, but the size of fish has increased remarkably, i have hooked a fish i think twice, and lost it unfortunately that both Rod and i [we have seen it once i had it at the net] believe would easily break the lake record it fights like a demon, i had it on for over 30 min every time i got it near the net it would take 30 yards of line i was gutted.

Rod will let you do your own thing, but if you are struggling will give you all the advice you could need and will also place your baits with his bait boat. He is a great bloke and likes the occasional social, he especially likes it when i cook for him.
Back to the fishing the last trip in june 4 days the weather was against us, well hot in the thirties every day, i took my father in law a seasoned fisherman but limited experience of carp fishing his pb was double figures he ended up bagging a 38lb mirror along with 5 other fish to 34lb i ended up at last catching a fourty 42-08 to complete the full house and 4 other fish to mid 30's [how long is it going to be b4 a 60lb fish is caught] not long i think, i hope its me!!
I am going back soon, hopefully oct if not dec [it fishes in the winter aswell]
Good luck all Bob
his first trip to france, a seasoned fisherman but had not done a lot of carp fishing

Lake Albert 2010

Recent trip to Lake Albert, France. 24th April 2010

I have fished many lakes in France for a number of years big and small. I can only describe this as a gem of a place, depths of 5-6ft.

Arrived on the Saturday morning greeted by the owner Rob with a guided tour of the facilities. 5*. This venue only allows four anglers or exclusive bookings, so no panic to run to the nearest swim as now after fishing here I have every confidance you can catch all over.

Well stocked, clean and pleasant surroundings ideal for a relaxing trip and fish healthy hard fighting and can be caught with various methods of bait and placement.

Very surprised by the weights as the 1st 3 fish out were over 40lb followed by 30's and 25 plus fish. SO AFTER BOOKING A WEEK ON THE LAKE FOR FOUR OF US WE SET OF FROM SUNNY ESSEX AT MIDNIGHT TO CATCH THE 03.20 TRAIN TO FRANCE. WE ARRIVED ON LAKE ALBERT AT AROUND 11.00 AM AFTER LETTING BILL SWITCH OFF THE SAT NAV?? SAYING HE KNOWS THE WAY!! ANYWAY WE ARRIVED AT LAKE ALBERT LIKE A LOAD OF KIDS AT CHRISTMAS.WE WAS MET BY UNCLE ALBERT (ROD) AT THE GATE TAKING THE MICK OUT OF US FOR GETTING LOST. WE ALL TOOK A WALK ROUND THE LAKE AND WAS INPRESSED BY HOW CLEAN THE LAKE AND THE GROUNDS WERE. IT WAS HEAVEN AFTER THE LAST PLACE WE FISHED AT IN FRANCE . (YES YOU NO WHO YOU ARE). AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR BILL HAD A LOVELY 35 POUND COMMON. SO THAT WAS IT WE ALL THOUGHT. HERE WE GO. FEW HOURS LATER BILL HAD ANOTHER VERY CLEAN MIRROR WEIGHING IN AT 33 POUND. AS THE NIGHT WAS COMING I(DAVE) HAD A RUN THAT WENT MENTAL AND FOUGHT LIKE MIKE TYSON, LOOKING AT BILL TELLING HIM SH** THIS HAS TO BE MY P.B AFTER A LONG FIGHT WITH THE CARP GOING EVERWHERE OVER THE LAKE I BAGGED A 15 POUND COMMON WITH UNCLE ALBERT (ROD) STANDING NEXT TO ME LAUGHING SAYING WELL DONE YOU,VE CAUGHT THE SMALLEST FISH IN MY LAKE. (GIT) ANY WAY A FEW HOURS LATER MY ROD SHOT OFF AGAIN AND PRODUCED A LOVELY 27 POUND MIRROR. YEHAA P.B BROKEN. BY NOW WE ALL GOT IN BIVVYS AND LOOKED FORWARD TO THE FOLLOWING MORNING. THROUGH THE NIGHT MY ALARM SCREAMED OFF AGAIN PRODUCING ANOTHER LOVELY COMMON AT 29 POUND WAHAA ANOTHER P.B. THE NEXT DAY MY ROD WENT AGAIN LANDING ANOTHER P.B AT 33 POUND. UNREAL. KEVIN AND RONNIE WAS FISHING THE OVERSIDE SIDE OF THE LAKE A BIT DISHEARTENED SO UNCLE ALBERT SET OUT HIS BAIT BOAT FOR THEM GIVING THEM AS MUCH HELP AS POSSIBLE (TOP FELLA) RONNIE CAUGHT A NICE COMMON WEIGHING IN AT 17 POUND THROUGH THE NITE, THEN A FEW NITES LATER KEVIN CAUGHT A FISH!! BUT WE WON,T GO INTO THAT ONE. ANYWAY TO TOP IT FOUR DAYS INTO THE FISHING MY ROD GAVE A LITTLE TWEAK WHICH GAVE ME A BEAUTIFULL 40 POUND 2 OZ MIRROR. OH MY GOD UNREAL. ON THE LAST NITE RONNIE PULLED IN A GREAT LOOKING 27 POUND SO HE SMASHED HIS P.B TO. YOU CAN NOT ASK FOR A BETTER LAKE AND UNCLE ALBERT (ROD) WAS A TOP FELLA HE WILL HELP YOU WITH ANYTHING ( AND DRINK YOUR BEER) I URGE ANYONE TO GO TO THIS LAKE YOU WON,T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS I PROMISE YOU. I am not and as such I am a novice in this type of fishing.

I had spent three days on another lake without achieving a single run.

Despondent I went for a walk up the lane where, to my amazement I saw a guy who was the spitting image of Uncle Albert out of only fools and horses cutting the grass on a beautiful 4 acre lake. Naturally I asked if I could fish the lake and the next day I was fishing with my single rod for carp.

Uncle Albert real name Rod kindly offered to bait my swim with his bait boat and he changed my rig. Needless to say one hour later I was hooked into a 24lb mirror, which was the biggest carp I had ever caught. Rod kindly photographed the fish and gave me a print.

I was back next day this time Rod offered me the use of his three rods which I gratefully used as my tackle was inadequate for the job.

I caught an 18lb common and a whopping 33.02 oz Mirror which took 20 minute to land. Rod photographed the fish for me.

The next day I had another 24lb, 18lb and 20lb fish.

On the final day we had set up two rods when I immediately hooked a long fish weighing 34lb. If this fish had been deeper it would have been a high forty. It fought hard and long and made several screaming runs across the lake. No sooner had we returned the fish when the second rod screamed away. It was another 32lb mirror, (some fishing or what). Finally I caught a small common 18lb, well after the big ones one can get to feel this way.

I had a great time hear and on reflection I feel this lake has great potential to produce some really big fish. I fished during the day, but I bet anyone who fishes through the dawn, dusk and the night will bag up in big style.

Tips for the lake

Always use a bait boat

If you're not catching take advice from Rod the owner.
